Learning to DriveLearning to drive can be a daunting experience so we work hard to make
it as easy as possible. Fully qualified driving instructors
Average no. lessons to pass test: 45* (national average)
How soon can I start learning to drive? You must be 17 and have a valid provisional licence. Complete a D1 form from the Post Office and send it to the DVLA (DVLNI in Northern Ireland) with your passport or birth certificate and a passport-sized photo as ID. You can apply for it up to three months before your 17th birthday and you could book your first lesson for your birthday if you're in a rush! Generally the earlier you learn to drive the easier you'll find it.
